Archiving and deletingOOC
Archived things are put away, not gone. Only an archived thing can be deleted for good.
Most things in Skaafin are archived rather than deleted: books and pages, boards, guard
posts, incident types, containers, and whole places. An archived thing leaves the lists but
nothing about it is lost, and it can be brought back.
Deleting for good is a second step, offered only on archived things, behind a confirm. Use
it for test things and mistakes.
- Books, pages, boards, posts, incident types: deleted at once by whoever can archive them.
Records that named them keep their own words. - Containers: only one nothing was ever recorded in. A container with stock records stays
archived, because those records are the store’s books. - Places (Holds, towns, stores, factions): a rank that can fully run the places below its
own (Full control of all orgs below) archives one from its settings. Everything below it
is archived with it, and it comes back from the Archived list of the place above. - Deleting a place: a rank with Delete archived orgs below deletes an archived place
from that same list, after typing its name. It goes 7 days later, with everything in and
below it: its members’ places, records, ledgers and papers. Bringing it back before then
stops the delete. Letters and papers it sent to others stay with them, signed with its name. - Servers and standalone stores are deleted the same way by the site’s staff, once
archived. Characters on them go; accounts stay.
Every archive and delete leaves a note in the audit log. Nightly backups still hold deleted
things for a while.
