DocumentOOC
A piece of paper held by a character or an organisation. It can be copied, sent by letter and filed.
Everything written down in character is a document: notes, notices, receipts, price lists, reports. Each one is a single piece of paper held by one character or one organisation.
- Your documents are yours alone. Nobody else sees them, not even your other characters.
- An organisation’s documents are read by ranks with Read this organisation’s documents and written by ranks with Write, copy, file and sign documents here. They stay inside the organisation unless someone sends a copy.
- The page is headed with the organisation’s name (on official and ledger paper) and the lore date it was written, and carries a number such as
DK7-M2X.
Making one
Write one from Documents, or make one from a record: a receipt from a trade’s page, a price list or a sale sheet from Make from records, a stocktake sheet from a stocktake in the stock history. A paper made from a record is a snapshot: you can still edit it until someone signs or seals it.
Filing
Give a paper a category (a shelf) and tags, then find it again with the filters. Papers that came by letter wait on the new pile until you file them.
Copies and handing over
Copy a paper to yourself or to an organisation where you may write. Hand it over to give the original away (this needs Destroy this organisation’s documents for an organisation’s papers). Send by letter encloses papers in a letter. See copies.
Destroy burns it: it is gone for its holder.
