GuardsOOC

A faction with the Watch capability. Its ranks can act on public things in their Hold, like taking notices off public boards.

A guard is a member of a faction that server staff have given the Watch capability.

Making a guard faction

  1. Server staff open Capabilities on the server and switch on Watch for the guard faction.
  2. The faction’s head gives its ranks what they need: Take notices down from public boards within our reach, Go on and off duty and, for officers, Set posts, put guards on and off duty, see the duty history. New guard factions start with these on Officer and Member.

What guards can do

A guard acts only where a guard could be: on public things (a Hold’s public boards) in their own Hold, unless server staff widen the reach. Anything private, like an organisation’s own papers and books, stays closed to them. Warrants to open private things come in a later phase.

A guard’s own work

  • Duty: posts, going on and off duty, who is on duty now.
  • The register of known persons: suspects, witnesses, victims and contacts, by the names given.
  • Incident reports: what happened, who was involved, evidence and the laws broken. They stay in the guard’s files.
