SettlementOOC
A city, town, village or barony within a Hold, with its own noticeboard and, if it likes, its own court.
A settlement is an organisation for a place within a Hold: a city, a town, a village, a barony, or a modded town your server added.
- Type. Each settlement has a type label of its own (City, Town, Village, Barony, or any word), set in its settings.
- Capital. A Hold may mark one of its settlements as its capital, in the Hold’s settings. The Jarl’s court stays the Hold.
- Court. It may have a Reeve and officials of its own, with ranks you can rename, or be just a place with nobody running it. Either way the Hold’s court looks after it from above.
- Noticeboard. It keeps its own noticeboard page: news, events, laws and a directory of the businesses in town.
- Businesses and factions. Stores and factions may sit in a settlement or directly under the Hold. A store’s Hold is always the nearest Hold above it, so a store in a town uses that Hold’s item list and prices.
- No item list or prices of its own. Those stay with the server, the Hold and each store.
A Hold’s court creates settlements from the Hold’s Settlements page, and can move a store from one town to another, or a whole town to another Hold. Records keep the Hold they were made under.
