What a rank lets its holders do, such as changing prices or inviting people.
Permissions are the individual things a rank allows: seeing the catalogue, changing prices, inviting members and so on. Which ones a rank can use depends on the organisation’s capabilities: a Hold that keeps an item list has item-list permissions, a store that trades has catalogue ones.
A permission only works in the organisation where the rank is held, except oversight permissions, which also reach the organisations below.
