CreditOOC

What someone owes you, or what you owe them, written down by hand. Nothing goes on credit by itself.

Credit is optional. It is off until server staff allow it (the server’s settings, Trade tab), and then each store chooses to use it on its own Trade settings. Until then the counter doesn’t offer it.

Credit is a running balance with someone in your register: what they owe you (a tab), or what you owe them (store credit). Like the coffer, it is a ledger: every change is a new line, and the balance is the sum.

Putting a trade on credit

On the Finish sheet, tick On credit (a sale) or Owe it to them (a purchase), next to the coin. The amount is suggested and can be changed, so part can be paid in coin and the rest on credit. It is never ticked for you. A trade can also be put on credit later from its receipt.

  • It needs someone from your register: a walk-in can’t have credit.
  • It needs a rank that can give credit.

Limits

A limit is a warning, not a wall: a sale on credit that takes someone past their limit still goes through, and the counter tells you before you save. Each person can have their own limit; everyone else gets your default limit (on the Credit page). A default of 0 means no default limit.

Settling up

On the person’s page, Settle up records coin changing hands for credit: they pay off what they owe, or you pay out what you owe them. It writes both the credit line and the coffer entry at once. Correct the balance fixes a mistake without any coin, and needs a reason.

Voiding a trade doesn’t touch its credit unless you tick Take the credit back.
