Leaving playOOC
Retire a character, or record that they died. You choose who gets their papers and who takes over their ranks.
When a character’s story ends, open your profile and choose Retire or record a death…. A short form asks:
- How they leave: they retire, or they died in the story.
- Their papers: give them to someone in your People I know book or to one of your organisations. Otherwise they stay with the character as an estate that nobody can read; server staff can hand it on later.
- Their ranks: for each rank they hold, name who takes over from the members below it, if your server allows it. Otherwise, or if you name nobody, server staff appoint a new head.
They then leave every organisation and your character list. Records, trades and credit keep their name.
Nobody is told
The app never marks anyone dead. Their calling cards stop working for anyone new, and letters and papers to them fail just as they do for a retired character. People find out in the story and write it down themselves, for example with a deceased tag in their book or register.
Only server staff can undo a death. The character comes back to your list, but their old memberships stay ended.
