Standalone storesOOC

A shop that is a world of its own, apart from any server. It keeps its books, stock and customers, and nothing that needs other organisations.

A standalone store is one shop on its own, for someone who wants their books kept without a whole server and its Holds. It is a world of its own: nothing in it is seen from a server, and nothing from a server reaches it. Nobody above it reads its books, site staff included.

It has everything a store needs to run: its catalogue and prices, containers and stock, the counter, trades, the coffer, customers and credit, orders, staff and ranks, documents and its own boards, its page and price list. It keeps its own calendar and chooses whether to use credit (Settings → Calendar and Trade).

What needs other organisations is not there: Holds and item lists above it, exports, announcements, letters between organisations, the watch and visiting.

Opening one. If the site allows it, Home has “Open a standalone store”: name the store and the character who runs it. That character is new, since the store is a world of its own, and holds its head rank. Otherwise site staff open one for you and give you an invite to its head rank.

Moving to a server later. Make a store export (Settings → General) and import it in the new store’s setup on the server. Its items are matched to the server’s lists, stock arrives as an opening stocktake, and money only when you confirm each figure. History, papers and members stay behind.

Closing it. The owner can archive it from Settings → General (export first). Site staff can archive and open it again. Reports made in a standalone store go to site staff.
